Infodrag combines drag performance with complex energy transition communication. Across three YouTube episodes and live performances, Berlin drag queen Viagra Falls translates scientific content into accessible, entertaining language. The experimental format reaches new audiences and proves that science communication can also be sassy and covered in glitter.
The Challenge
Why the energy transition needs a new tone
Germany's energy transition struggles with a communication problem. Technical jargon, complex interdependencies, and a one-sided expert perspective build barriers instead of bridges to the public. Fear dominates climate communication: disaster scenarios are meant to motivate but usually lead to resignation instead. Infodrag emerged from the realization that complex societal transformations need new communication formats – formats that combine emotion and information, amplify diverse voices, and show that the energy transition isn't a dry expert topic, but a cultural shift for all of us.

Performance meets precision
Three YouTube episodes were filmed: on the basics of the energy transition, German success stories, and individual ways to take action. Viagra Falls translates scientific content into her own language – cheeky, witty, full of performative drama, yet informative and visually spectacular, supported by animated infographics. The format made waves: live performances at events held by IKEM and the Reiner Lemoine Institute, and the "Climate Cabaret" at the Berlin Energy Days, were the first sequels beyond YouTube.
