Industry focus: Mobility Transition & Sustainable Transport
In the mobility transition, facts, emotions and societal reality collide
Anyone who wants to change mobility has to understand why people are attached to it. Ellery Studio supports stakeholders in mobility, transport planning and transformation where the policy goals of the mobility transition meet everyday conflicts, user experiences and public debate.
Where we come in
Mobility transition challenges we know inside out
Factual, but highly emotional
Hardly any field of transformation is as closely tied to everyday life, freedom, habit and frustration as mobility. Arguing with facts alone often fails to reach the real conflicts.
Many perspectives, many realities
For some it's about climate targets, for others about parking, accessibility, safety or the commute to work. Good communication has to bring these perspectives together without wagging a finger.
Complex systems stay abstract
Modal shift, multimodality, traffic calming, integrated planning. Many sustainable transport solutions are technically clear but hard to communicate.
Participation, yes, but often only symbolic
Mobility questions affect everyone, so expectations of having a say are correspondingly high. But without good processes, participation quickly tips into frustration or wish lists that go nowhere.
Future visions are missing
Many regions know what they want to avoid. That is precisely why they need narratives, scenarios and images people can relate to.
How we work
Our guiding principles for communication and participation in the mobility transition
Everyday life & emotion
Explaining the transport transition without draining it of emotion
Mobility is never just infrastructure. It is experience, habit, friction and identity. That is why we develop formats that combine technical depth with storytelling rooted in everyday life. For Agora Verkehrswende, we created the award-winning science comic “Future Ahoy!” (“Abgefahren!” in German), which does not just explain the transport transition but is as entertaining as it is informative.
Studies & transport transition
Mobility knowledge translated so people can get on board
In mobility in particular, political, technical and social questions are closely intertwined. We distill studies, strategies and position papers into visual formats that provide orientation. The result: fact sheets, communication series and publications that work well beyond expert circles.
Public participation & public space
Participation for new mobility spaces
When mobility is to be rethought, collecting opinions is rarely enough. Not a one-way street, so to speak. It requires processes that take different lived realities seriously and bring them together productively. We design and facilitate participation formats in which perspectives from public administration, civil society, science and everyday life come together.

Regional mobility & foresight
Future visions for regional mobility
How will a region get around tomorrow? What mobility services do rural areas need? How does mobility change when you consistently start with people? In projects like NaMoW, we work with scenarios, participation and visual synthesis to turn open questions into concrete future visions.
